Victor Osimhen returned to action after a muscle injury in Napoli‘s 0-0 draw against Hellas Verona on Saturday but was frustrated by the crossbar and referee Federico La Penna.

The Nigeria international replaced Giacomo Raspadori at minute 73 at the Stadio Maradona, making his return after a muscle injury suffered while on international duty with Nigeria in March.

The 23-year-old who is Serie A’s leading scorer with 21 goals, had the best chance of the evening for the Partenopei but hit the crossbar minutes after his introduction.

After the game, Osimhen was furious with referee La Penna who had blown the final whistle during a Napoli attack, but time had run out, including four minutes of added time.

Osimhen will surely start in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals against Milan at the Stadio Maradona on Tuesday.

He had missed the first leg in Milan on Wednesday, seeing his teammates suffer a 1-0 loss.
