According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, José Mourinho will decide on his future at Roma at the end of the season, but Stephan El Shaarawy is convinced the Special One will stay at the Stadio Olimpico.

Mourinho signed a three-year deal with the Giallorossi in 2021, so his contract expires in June 2024. He’s been linked with the Portugal job after Fernando Santos was fired, but neither Roma nor the coach want to part ways now and the Giallorossi don’t want to share their coach with his national team.

However, according to Gazzetta, Mourinho will decide his future at the club at the end of the season.

According to reports, Mourinho wants guarantees in terms of transfers and investments to strengthen the team in the long term. Roma expect compensation if he leaves the club one year before the expiration of his contract.

The Serie A side are currently training in Portugal and El Shaarawy spoke to the media about Mourinho’s future: “Everyone hopes Mourinho stays at Roma for a long time,” he told Gazzetta.

“He is focused on Roma and we are all focused on training. He is a generous and instinctive person and I am convinced he will stay at Roma.”
