José Mourinho wasn’t only unhappy with the officiating in NapoliRoma yesterday but also complained because Giallorossi fans were not allowed to travel to the Stadio Maradona.

The harsh and sometimes violent rivalry between the two groups of ultras has forced local authorities to play fixtures between Napoli and Roma without away fans over the last few years, also before the pandemic.

Napoli fans didn’t travel to Rome for the first leg game and the same happened with Giallorossi fans yesterday. Mourinho was impressed with his team’s performance at the Stadio Maradona, but had a few things to complain about.

Mourinho blasts referees: ‘Roma deserve right to at least try to win against Napoli’

The Special One first complained about the referee’s decisions during his post-match interview with DAZN and then took to social media to express his discontent because Roma fans had not been allowed to attend the match.

“Loved to play in Maradona Stadium, so proud of my players/team….what a family,” he wrote on Instagram.

“So sorry Roma supporters were not allowed to come to the match. Now train and pizza time.”

Roma lost their last Serie A match in January against Juventus and are unbeaten in 12 league games, the longest streak in Italy’s top flight at the moment.
