Torino want to sign Eldor Shomurodov on loan from Roma and today’s edition of Il Corriere dello Sport highlights that the Special One ‘didn’t even know’ who the Uzbekistan international was when he arrived at the Stadio Olimpico in 2021.

The 27-year-old joined the Giallorossi on loan with an obligation to buy from Genoa in 2021 but has only managed six goals in 48 appearances under Mourinho so far.

As per Sky Sport Italia, Torino have an agreement with the player for a loan deal until the end of the season, but Roma haven’t yet given the green light.

Today’s edition of Il Corriere dello Sport highlights that Mourinho didn’t even know who Shomurodov was when he joined the club a year and a half ago.

“He [Mourinho] didn’t know him and didn’t even remember he had faced him in a cup game. Pinto signed the Uzbek striker, considering him a good prospect,” wrote Ivan Zazzaroni, editor of the Rome-based paper.

Shomurodov’s contract at the Stadio Olimpico runs through 2026. Roma spent €18m to sign him from Genoa.

The 27-year-old has scored one goal in eight appearances across all competitions this season.

  1. Na, he had met him at an event years ago. You can check it out on Shomurodov’s insta a while back.

  2. I genuinely feel like Mou is sleeping on Eldor. He’s a fine talent and he does not get consistent opportunity.
