Fiorentina Coach Vincenzo Montella has revealed that he was a Milan fan growing up and ‘always dreamed’ of winning a trophy with them.

Montella coached Milan between 2016 and 2017, leading them to their last piece of silverware – the Supercoppa, courtesy of a penalties victory over Juventus.

“I supported Milan when I was a kid and I always dreamed of lifting a trophy with them,” he recalled at a Press conference for the Viola’s visit of the Rossoneri in Serie A on Saturday.

“I supported Milan when I was a kid and I always dreamed of lifting a trophy with them,” he recalled at a Press conference for the Viola’s visit of the Rossoneri in Serie A on Saturday.

“I realised that dream when we won the Supercoppa in 2016. Now I am with Fiorentina and all that matters to me is to win with them.”

The former Roma striker made way for Gennaro Gattuso, who remains in charge of the Diavolo…

“When I was in charge at San Siro, Gennaro Gattuso was made Coach of the Primavera and I told my staff that if someday someone had to replace me, I would prefer if it was him.

“I will greet Gattuso with a smile when I see him, but hopefully by the end of the game it will be me that is still smiling.”
