Sergej Milinkovic-Savic returns for Lazio after suffering from illness and reveals what birthday gift he’d like tonight against Sampdoria.

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico at 19.45 GMT.

The Serbian returns to the starting XI after missing the games against Salernitana in Serie A and Conference League play-off with CFR Cluj due to a stomach bug.

It spread through the team, also affecting Mattia Zaccagni and Marcos Antonio.

“I feel better now, finally I am back after a few days out with a bad stomach,” Milinkovic-Savic told Lazio Style Channel.

“We must step on to the field fully concentrated to avoid repeating the final 15 minutes at Marassi, which cost us two points against Samp earlier this season.”

Today is also the midfielder’s 28th birthday, so he was asked if he would like a goal as a gift against Sampdoria.

“I prefer the three points. I am happy if I score, but there’s time for that, the important thing this evening is to win the game.”

A victory would propel Lazio into fourth place, awaiting Roma’s trip to Cremonese tomorrow, and put them within two points of Inter and Milan in second.

As Atalanta lost 2-0 to Milan last night, it’d also open up a comfortable four-point gap from sixth place, as the race for European qualification hots up.
