The Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir will be in charge of Milan vs. Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, the third time he will oversee the Rossoneri.

The match official Cakir will be at the whistle at San Siro on Tuesday with assistants Bahattin Duran, Tarik Ongun, fourth official Arda Kardesler and VAR Abdulkadir Bitigen.

Cakir has already overseen two Milan games, with one Rossoneri win and a draw in the 2013-14 season and has been in charge of 31 games including Italian clubs and national teams.

Italian teams have won 10 of those games and the last time the 44-year-old oversaw a Serie A team in the Champions was when Lazio played Club Brugge at the Olimpico in the group stage last term.

Cakir has great experience at the top level of European football, with 53 games in the Champions League, making his debut in September 2010. Later that year, he oversaw Inter’s 3-0 defeat to Werder Bremen in December.

He has overseen Italian teams in every single Champions League season since 2010-11 and was in charge of Milan in the 3-0 win against Celtic in the group stage of the Rossoneri’s last participation in 2013-14.
