Roma are reportedly on the verge of renewing with captain Lorenzo Pellegrini after the latest meeting defined the agreement between the two parties.

The Giallorossi are working to extend the midfielder’s contract and Sky Sport Italia reports the last meeting brought the parties even closer.

The broadcaster claims Pellegrini will soon sign the new deal and prolong his stay in the Italian capital, as the deal is essentially completed.

Some aspects remain to be defined, such as bonuses and image right, but the Italy international will do as coach Jose Mourinho announced a few weeks ago and sign the new deal.

“He will be the captain for many years,” Mourinho said then.

Pellegrini returned to Roma from Sassuolo in 2017-18, having spent his entire youth career at the Giallorossi.

He then signed a five-year deal until June 2022, which the club is now on the verge of extending.

Pellegrini has been capped 17 times by Italy and has appeared 160 times with La Lupa.
