Milan are seriously thinking about making a move for Roma defender Philippe Mexes to shore up their defence.

Sunday's 4-4 draw has got Massimiliano Allegri worried that his team are too leaky at the back, especially when one of Thiago Silva or Alessandro Nesta is missing.

Mexes is out of contract at Roma in the summer and though Rosella Sensi has said that the club would like to extend his existing deal, the France international defender insists he is in no hurry.

Sensi spoke with the player yesterday and invited his agent to meet with her at the club's training ground as soon as possible.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Milan are keeping a close eye on the situation with a view to a move either in January or June because there is a lack of faith in Daniele Bonera.

However, Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has a strong relationship with Sensi and will endeavour to do everything above board.

If Roma show absolutely no intention of selling Mexes, then Milan will apparently turn their attention to Espanyol's highly-rated centre-back Victor Ruiz.
