Milan and Chelsea could meet next week to discuss a possible move for Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to Tuttosport.

The newspaper claims Milan are reportedly entering talks with the Blues, to understand if there are any possibilities for the French midfielder’s return.

The Rossoneri are hoping to re-sign the 26-year-old, who spent one season on loan at San Siro in 2018-19.

Bakayoko’s contract with the Blues expires in June 2022 and the Premier League side might not be willing to let the former Monaco man leave on another temporary deal, to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.

Chelsea paid a reported €40m for Bakayoko in July 2017, when he joined the Blues after a successful stint with the Ligue 1 side.

He later returned to Monaco on loan in 2019-20, but spent last season with former Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso at Napoli.

Tuttosport claims Rossoneri are not the only ones looking at a possible deal for Bakayoko, as Juventus and Napoli are also mentioned as possible destinations for the former France international.

  1. It would be wonderful to have him back. Bakayoko next to Kessie gives Milan certain guarantees that Bennacer next to Kessie doesn’t. Better in possession, tactically and positionally more mature and also has the ability to carry the ball as well. It was a mistake to let meite go, but this would be a real upgrade.

  2. In what world is Bakayoko better than Bennacer on the ball? He’s not remotely close. The problem with Bak is how erratic he is – he’s capable of brilliant games, but so often he’s all over the place and will be spraying the ball every which way. He started so well at Napoli, but soon reverted to his usual self.

Meite is not good either. He wasn’t good at Torino most of the time. Had maybe two good games at Milan and was otherwise very bad. Like a poor man’s Bakayoko. He’s no loss to anyone.

  3. He’s almost a necessity signing for Milan as Kessie and Bennacer will be away during Jan/Feb for the AFCON. The season could be one of regret if we were left with just Pobega and Tonali without adequate cover. Baka will be able to hit the ground running in an environment he knows well. Hopefully a loan now will pave the way for his purchase too.
