Milan met with Sandro Tonali today to discuss a new contract and things went forward well, Gianluca Di Marzio details.

The 22-year-old Italian midfielder is one of the key players in Stefano Pioli’s squad in Lombardy, and even though his current deal expires in 2026, the club don’t want to get caught out. Last year Milan asked Tonali to lower his salary a little to help with financial restrictions, and now they’re planning to reward their crucial man.

Di Marzio highlights that Milan’s plan is to extend Tonali’s contract for another year until 2027, increasing his wages in the process. Interestingly, should the Italian midfielder put pen to paper on his new deal, it would be his third contract in three years with the Rossoneri.

Now that Fikayo Tomori’s new deal has been completed, a new contract for Tonali is a key priority Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara.

Last season, the 22-year-old Italian made 45 appearances across all competitions, for a total of 3153 minutes. In that time, he scored five goals and provided three assists.
