Milan are raising their bid for Roma defender Alessio Romagnoli to €28m, just €2m off the asking price.

The Giallorossi have turned down a series of offers for the centre-back, who spent last season on loan at Sampdoria working under Sinisa Mihajlovic.

The Rossoneri had stopped at €25m, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport they haven’t given up yet.

Another proposal is ready for the 20-year-old worth €28m including bonuses.

That is so close to Roma’s €30m asking price that a move could well be in the offing.

It was reported earlier this week that Napoli had offered €28m for Romagnoli, a proposal that Roma accepted, but the defender turned it down.

He is determined to only leave the Stadio Olimpico for a reunion with Mihajlovic at Milan.

At the same time, Roma are under increasing pressure to raise funds so they can secure Edin Dzeko from Manchester City.

There are continual problems in selling other unwanted baggage such as Mattia Destro and Seydou Doumbia.
