Milan have opened direct talks with Tottenham Hotspur to get defender Japthet Tanganga on loan with option to buy.

According to Calciomercato.com and Sky Sports UK, the two clubs have started intense negotiations to make the deal stick.

The Rossoneri are seeking a loan with option to buy at the end of the season, so the sides and Tanganga’s agents are trying to work out the details.

A product of the Tottenham Hotspur youth academy, the 23-year-old Londoner is an England Under-21 international who plays at centre-back and also right-back.

He has not progressed as much as expected, making only 19 competitive appearances for Spurs last season.

Tanganga is under contract until June 2025, so a loan with option to buy should not be a concern for the Premier League club.

Milan are hoping to add more young English talents to their defence, after Fikayo Tomori did so well coming from Chelsea on loan and then purchased outright.

  1. Dunno about this guy, but certainly Gabbia and Caldara are hardly hot prospects… Gabbia has always seemed decent but not top quality, and Caldara’s star faded after his lengthy injury. If Tanganga is anything like Tomori, then he’s head and shoulders above those two.
