Multiple reports in Italy claim Milan met with Mario Mandzukic’s agent over the last 24 hours to discuss his arrival as a free transfer.

The striker is no stranger to Serie A, having played for Juventus from 2015 to January 2020.

He lasted only six months at Al-Duhail in Qatar before terminating the contract by mutual consent in July 2020.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and Tuttomercatoweb, Milan met with Mandzukic’s representative on Tuesday.

The encounter was positive and they are now progressing in negotiations for personal terms.

Mandzukic would follow in the footsteps of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who arrived a year ago as a free agent to bring valuable experience to an otherwise very young squad.

With Ibra just making his comeback after six weeks out injured, Mandzukic would provide another element to draw on in attack.

The Croatia international is 34 years old, so considerably younger than Ibrahimovic.
