Milan have updated their proposal to sign Nicolò Zaniolo from Roma, hoping to beat Tottenham Hotspur with an improved guarantee of an eventual purchase.

According to Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia, the Rossoneri have been in direct contact with both Zaniolo’s representatives and Roma directors over the last 24 hours.

Considering the contract is due to expire in June 2024 and it has been confirmed Zaniolo asked to leave the club, the Giallorossi are prepared to accept a loan with obligation to buy deal.

Tottenham have so far failed to impress Roma by proposing the loan with obligation only if Zaniolo reaches a certain number of appearances.

It is now suggested Milan are offering to make the move permanent if they qualify for the Champions League at the end of this season.

Considering the Scudetto holders are currently in second place, that would seem to be a fairly reliable deal for all concerned.

The problem now is that both Milan and Spurs are offering no more than €25m including bonuses.

Milan would be offering €2-3m for the six-month loan.
