According to Sky Sport Italia, Alessandro Florenzi will undergo surgery in Finland today and is expected to face a lengthy spell on the treatment table.

The Italy international suffered a tendon injury during Milan‘s 0-0 draw against Sassuolo on August 30 and according to Sky Sport Italia, the Rossoneri defender will undergo surgery in Finland today.

It is still unclear how long Florenzi will remain out of action, but according to the report, the ex-Roma man will be forced to the sidelines ‘for a long time.’

Milan felt Florenzi’s injury would have taken long to be treated, so they quickly reached an agreement with Barcelona to loan USMNT international Serginho Dest on the deadline day.

The Serie A champions will pay Dest’s salary during his loan spell at San Siro and have an option to make his move permanent for €20m in the summer.

Milan are expected to release an official statement revealing Florenzi’s status and recovery time after his surgery today.
