Fikayo Tomori has not been included in the England squad for tonight’s game against Germany and will return to Milan without having played a single minute for his country during the international break.
The ex-Chelsea defender has been left out of the Three Lions squad and will return to Milan quite rested having only trained with his country during the international break.
Tomori didn’t feature in England’s 1-0 loss to Italy on Friday and is on his way back to his club.
The 24-year-old was among Serie A’s best defenders in 2021-22, Milan’s first title-winning campaign in 11 years.
He’s been a regular starter at the Stadio Meazza since his initial loan move from Chelsea in January 2021. Milan made his move permanent for €29m in July 2021.
The product of the Blues’ academy has played 71 games with the Diavoli, scoring two goals.
Roma striker Tammy Abraham has made the England squad but is expected to start on the bench against the Germans.
Not playing Fiko shows how naive Southgate is. Gutted for Fiko, but happy he’s rested.
Amazing that he wasn’t played against Italy, he knows the Italian players better than any other English defender. Another loss tonight will teach England nothing, a short WC might.
