Agent Beppe Riso visited Milan today to discuss Sandro Tonali’s extension, Daniel Maldini’s loan to Verona, but possibly also snatching Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi from under Roma’s noses.

The representative was spotted entering the Rossoneri headquarters this afternoon for a meeting with directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara.

He had been expected to talk about the idea of extending midfielder Tonali’s contract beyond 2026 and securing Maldini Junior’s loan switch to Verona.

However, Tuttomercatoweb claim they also discussed the possibility of signing Frattesi from Sassuolo.

The 22-year-old has been in negotiations for a return to his hometown club Roma for weeks, but without much significant progress.

Despite the fact Roma are owed 30 per cent of the sell-on fee, and therefore would get a 30 per cent discount this summer if they bought him back, the €30m asking price is still far too steep.

Milan need a midfielder and have so far been frustrated by LOSC man Renato Sanches and Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz.

The idea would be to get Frattesi on a two-year loan with obligation to buy, therefore spreading out the cost of the operation over two or more seasons.

Frattesi has three senior Italy caps and last term contributed four goals and four assists in 36 Serie A games for Sassuolo.

With Tonali, he would be building an Italian core to the Rossoneri midfield.

  1. Exciting but maybe too similar a player to Tonali? Can they both be made starters? What do you guys think?

  2. Well I have actually not followed him that much, couldn’t give any verdict as regards the collaboration with Tonali if it will be successful. But certainly having an Italian core of either defence, midfield or attack wouldn’t be bad.

  3. I thought frattesi was an Attacking Midfielder either in the centre or right? He can play with Tonali I’m sure

  4. He’s a center midfielder. A good player but too similar to Krunic imo. I don’t think there’s anything to this rumor.
