Milan youth product Lorenzo Colombo has impressed at Lecce and the club intends to buy him at the end of the season, but the Rossoneri have a counter-option to bring him back to base.

The 20-year-old has contributed four goals and two assists in 14 games for Lecce this season between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

He also had a loan spell at SPAL last season and is a regular for Italy at Under-21 level.

Lecce have an option to buy at the end of the season for €2.5m and La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that they intend to use it.

However, Milan also have a counter-option to bring him back to base for €3.5m plus bonuses based on goals and appearances during the loan experience.

The Rossoneri are short on centre-forwards at the moment, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic is out injured until 2023 and Divock Origi has struggled to adapt in Serie A so far.

Olivier Giroud is the only real option so far this season, but at 37 and playing for France at the World Cup, he cannot be used all the time.

Colombo would be particularly useful in the Champions League, as Milan have very few homegrown Italian players and that leads to squad limitations.
