Milan star Rafael Leao has been linked with a move to Chelsea and fans of both clubs are discussing the potential deal on social media.
Leao was named Best Serie A Player in 2021-22 following the Rossoneri’s title win. The Portugal star scored 11 goals and delivered 10 assists in 34 Serie A games last term.
Today’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests Chelsea are ready to pay up to €120m to sign the 23-year-old whose €150m release clause expired in July.
Milan are unwilling to sell their star but would listen to offers close to his release clause, as per reports in Italy.
Leao’s contract runs out in June 2024 and the Rossoneri are willing to extend his stay at the club. Negotiations between the player’s agent Jorge Mendes and the Rossoneri will resume in September.
It may be challenging for the Serie A champions to reach an agreement considering that Leao owes €16.5m to his former club Sporting CP for the unilateral rescission of his contract in July.
