Atalanta striker Emmanuel Latte Lath is close to Middlesbrough, but there are reports they face competition from Ludogorets, FC Basel and Deportivo Alaves.

The 24-year-old is down to the final months of his contract in Bergamo, having come up through their youth academy and had several loan spells, including the most recent in Switzerland for San Gallo.

The Ivorian impressed there, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists in 34 competitive games.

Sky Sport Italia suggested today that a deal was imminent with English team Middlesbrough.

However, Tuttomercatoweb insist that is not entirely accurate, as although Boro are the favourites, there is also interest from several other clubs.

That includes Ludogorets in Bulgaria, Swiss side FC Basel and Deportivo Alaves in Spain.

He had also been part of the negotiations between Atalanta and Red Star Belgrade earlier in the summer, but they were unable to reach an agreement.

Latte Lath played regularly in pre-season friendly games for Atalanta and made a good impression.
