Olivier Giroud was widely praised by the Italian press for his decisive work in Milan’s key 1-0 win away to Juventus.

The Rossoneri’s victory in Turin secured their spot in the Champions League, a vital result that allows the team to continue building their project in the Lombardy capital. The club were also helped by the 10-point deduction handed to Juventus by the FIGC court on May 22.

Often the main man for Milan, Giroud again showed why he’s a leader in the squad with his work against Juventus, scoring a confident header in the 40th minute to guide the team to three points. It was his 17th goal across all competitions this season.

La Gazzetta dello Sport underlined the importance of Giroud to Milan and were impressed by his headed effort, saying: “He turns green like the Hulk and the water of Venice, monstrous goal. Oliver’s first theorem confirmed: if the game is worthy, he is likely to score.”

Tuttosport were equally as impressed by Giroud’s contributions, touching on his class and ability to make the difference, commenting: “As if to say: you provoked me… Goal that unlocks and decides, a merciless punisher.”
