Walter Mazzarri is unbowed after Napoli's crushing defeat to Milan. “We haven't turned into a bunch of losers overnight.”

The Partenopei were genuine Scudetto contenders up until last week's 3-0 drubbing, but are still in third place and within six points of the leaders.

“Up until 15 minutes from time, Milan had been unable to get a goal from open play and created few problems for us, even if our attitude wasn't right.

The Partenopei were genuine Scudetto contenders up until last week's 3-0 drubbing, but are still in third place and within six points of the leaders.

“Up until 15 minutes from time, Milan had been unable to get a goal from open play and created few problems for us, even if our attitude wasn't right.

“The truth is, we had far more difficulties against Chievo a few weeks ago. We were tired after the Europa League, but still held out better against the Rossoneri than at the Bentegodi. This is why I am confident,” declared the Coach.

“A negative performance can happen, but one must have balance. We haven't turned into a bunch of losers overnight or require a revolution in the squad because of one game.

“People only look at the results here and not the performances. A 3-0 might look like a disaster, but anyone who knows about football can see from the overall match that the penalty incident changed the game.”

Napoli's next test is on home turf against relegation battlers Brescia, the kind of team that have caused problems for them so far this season.

“I hope the San Paolo crowd can push us forward until the 95th minute and I ask the fans to encourage us, even if we get something wrong. Do not insult the players, they need your support.”

The Vesuviani could get back into the title race if Milan lose at Juventus this evening, but Mazzarri is ignoring the leadership.

“I won't watch that game, as we are only racing against ourselves. Anything can still happen, all the way from first to 10th place, which also means Juve and Roma can catch us up.”
