Walter Mazzarri believes time has been kind to his Inter spell – “everyone after me struggled…”

The Watford manager was sacked by the Nerazzurri in November 2014, with Roberto Mancini replacing him on the bench.

After guiding the side to fourth in Serie A, Mancio was also replaced, with Frank de Boer currently the man on the San Siro bench.

“I was sorry not to have been able to complete the cycle we started, taking Inter back to Europe,” Mazzarri told Corriere della Sera.

“I was sorry not to have been able to complete the cycle we started, taking Inter back to Europe,” Mazzarri told Corriere della Sera.

“There was regret about not having been able to complete the job, yes. I’m used to looking forward though, and that’s what I did immediately.

“After me, everyone struggled in Milan despite more significant signings. Experience helps everyone to grow, but time is a gentleman let’s put it that way.”

De Boer has also been under pressure, and it’s not certain he’ll keep his job even after last night’s win over Torino.

“When a club chooses a Coach they should do so with conviction. Give him time to express his ideas about football.”
