The midfielder was stretchered off during last night’s win over Sassuolo, with immediate fears that he was set for a long spell on the sidelines.

In the immediate aftermath, the Giallorossi’s team doctor offered a hopeful prognosis, but further tests have confirmed the Italian international will be out for some time.

“Alessandro Florenzi underwent diagnostic tests during the night which revealed he has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee,” a statement on the club’s official website confirmed.

“The 25-year-old sustained the injury during the second half of Roma's win at Sassuolo on Wednesday evening.
