Beppe Sala, the mayor of Milan, has asked for Inter and Milan to remain patient as the new stadium project nears approval.

The two clubs are growing increasingly frustrated with the incredibly slow bureaucratic process and have already developed an alternate plan to build the new stadium in another area. Bahraini investment fund Investcorp are completing a takeover of the Rossoneri and the new stadium is an important aspect for them.

Speaking at an event in Florence, Sala discussed the new Milan and Inter stadium and how a little more patience is needed.

“I believe that we will get to authorise the new stadium in our own time, which is not even dependent on my will.

“After this long process we are close to the conclusion of the whole thing, so I hope that the clubs will have a little more patience and that everything will be concluded in the best possible way.”

He then spoke about Milan’s upcoming match against Fiorentina and if he’ll ask the mayor of Florence for a gift.

“I’d be happy to ask him, but unfortunately I’m pessimistic about the Scudetto. As an Inter fan, I suffer for football and the blow of Bologna made me sleep badly. I believe, and I’m not saying this to gloat, that unfortunately the Scudetto is going in Milan’s direction.”

There are rumours circulating the Italian media that Investcorp are planning to move ahead with the new stadium project without intercity rivals Inter. Whilst this does seem a little difficult to imagine, it’s a sign that the slow process is causing increasing frustrating.

  1. Personally, I`m not really keen about all this new stadium thing, because the motive in the first place makes no sense to me, Milan as a historic club has been sharing stadium with Inter for years, how in what name are we planning to build a new shared stadium in this age ? I don’t understand this, whose idea is this in the first place? Imagine Man City and UTD coming together to build a shared stadium, or Real and Athletic, even Barca and Espanyol can never think of it, and to make things worst both Milanese club are under a foreign owner. I just hope Investcorp actually take over and bin all these trash idea

  2. We need to build our own stadium and NOT share with Inter. Let them stay in the old and outdated San Siro while we build a modern state of the art stadium and keep all of its revenues
