Inter director Beppe Marotta explains what a victory would mean away to Juventus, Max Allegri’s mind games and being ‘very happy’ with Simone Inzaghi.

It kicks off at the Allianz Juventus Stadium at 19.45 GMT.

There is only one point separating the old rivals, although they are further off the top spots than they would like at this stage of the season.

“A win here would continue the climb up the table, but along with statistics, what counts is the performance. We need to put in a convincing performance tonight to show we are still protagonists,” Marotta told DAZN.

Inter won two trophies last season, both beating Juventus in the Final in extra time for the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa, and also won here in Serie A last term.

Despite that, failure to retain the Scudetto won by Antonio Conte has caused some to criticise Inzaghi.

“We all grow daily with experience and that is true of coaches too. Inzaghi is a young coach, despite the fact he has already had a lot of experience at Lazio and arrived with strong credentials.

“We can always improve, in Italy and Europe. He got us through to the next phase of the Champions League, we are recovering lost ground in Serie A, and we are very happy with his progress.”

Juventus coach Max Allegri said in his press conference that Inter are the favourites to win this match in Turin. Was that mind-games?

“Allegri is an experienced coach, so I won’t say he is trying to put pressure on, but that is aiming to create more motivation among his players. We won’t be affected by that. We know that we are facing a strong team that has had some difficulties this season, as have we.”
