Juventus director Beppe Marotta admits they must rely on “destiny” for a good Champions League draw and replies to Roma insinuation.

The final group game with Dinamo Zagreb kicks off tonight at 19.45 GMT, follow the build-up and action on the Liveblog.

“We reached the Final in Berlin by coming second in the group, then when we won the group we got eliminated, so there’s really no guarantee of anything,” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.

“The draw has a very important role and we have to rely on destiny. Juve have success in their DNA, so after the wrong approach against Genoa, everyone from the club to players focused to get back on track.

“It takes qualities like experience, capability, determination and this is what pushes us forward. This squad is fulfilling its objectives in full. There have been some injuries and I don’t think there will be many great opportunities on the market in January. It’s difficult to find players up to Juventus standard.”

Marotta was also asked about Roma suggestions it was “no coincidence” Kevin Strootman received a two-match ban ahead of facing Milan and Juventus.

“We do our talking on the pitch and we have to win whether Strootman plays or not. It’s an important and difficult match, so we must play to Juventus standards.

“I suggest (Roma director Mauro) Baldissoni ask Umberto Gandini, as he is knowledgeable and can advise him on the rules.”
