Inter director Beppe Marotta reiterates that Simone Inzaghi will be ‘evaluated’ at the end of the season with all elements taken into account, as they feel confident ahead of matches with Roma and Milan.

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).

You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from this game and Cremonese-Spezia on the LIVEBLOG.

“The team is in good shape, especially as results help motivation and self-esteem to grow, so these are all important components,” Marotta told DAZN.

“Roma are on paper somewhat patched up, but remain a very determined and strong Roma side.”

Inter are in the Champions League semi-final against Milan and the Coppa Italia Final with Fiorentina, not to mention in a tight race for a top four finish in Serie A.

“There is a lot of adrenaline in this final portion of the season. In the next 10 days, much of the campaign will be decided and the appointments are significant.

“We also have Serie A exams to pass, so we all want Inter to do well. I want to congratulate Inzaghi, as he is doing things in the best way.”

Was there a moment in the campaign, particularly in 2023, that helped turn the corner for Inter and revitalise their form?

“The fact we beat a team like Benfica, which has always been difficult for Italian opponents, that helped bring back some self-belief in the squad. Also beating Juventus deservedly and running together strong Serie A results all contributed to restoring that confidence.

“We are Inter, so when we participate in a tournament, we want to go all the way.”

There continue to be rumours that Inzaghi will be fired if he fails to finish in the top four or win the Champions League, so Marotta was asked for the official line from the club.

“The reality is that coaches are always under the spotlight. When the club and directors take this role of evaluation, we take into account the professional capabilities of the coach, his human qualities too, so we are certainly not swayed by one or two incidents.

“The work Inzaghi is doing is very positive, we are in three tournaments and everyone is very pleased with his work.”

Rafael Leao limped off just 11 minutes into today’s 2-0 win over Lazio and is therefore in doubt for Milan’s Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.

“I don’t know what the situation is, but any team does not rely on just one player, so even if Leao is out, Stefano Pioli and Milan will be able to put out a strong performance.”
