Inevitably, the questions were about the on-going row between Gomez and coach Gian Piero Gasperini, as the captain is again on the bench.

“We need to focus on Atalanta and the last two games, as the victory over Fiorentina allows us to stay in the cluster of teams challenging for the top four places, while the historic win in Amsterdam has put us into the Champions League Round of 16 against Real Madrid.

“This is a great team of professionals, all those who are on the pitch and on the bench. I am always positive and I always put Atalanta at the centre of everything.”
