The Bianconeri face Vincenzo Montella’s side in Doha on Friday night, as they look to win the trophy for the fourth time in five seasons.

Marchisio missed Euro 2016 and the start of the season with a cruciate ligament injury, but has now returned to Massimiliano Allegri’s midfield.

“I missed a lot of things because the injury came at the end of the season, in the most beautiful moment,” the midfielder recalled, speaking to La Stampa.

“It wasn’t easy to recover, I was working morning and afternoon. It wasn’t easy, and I’m still not at 100 per cent.

“I could have shared the victories with Juve and then gone to the European Championships, but I was proud of my teammates for what they did.

“I’m a guy who doesn’t deal with it well when I’m out, I wanted to be strong and on the pitch.

“So my 2016 was bittersweet, but I look at the positives: I won two major trophies and now I can take a third, the first of the season.

“It won’t be an easy match against Milan, they already beat us in the League. We’ll have to be careful, because they’re a team with a lot of youngsters who will want to put on a display and confirm what they’re doing.

“We want to end this year as we started it though, and make it perfect.”

Marchisio was born and raised in Turin, growing up a Juve fan, but what if one of his sons, Davide or Leonardo, asked for a Torino shirt?

“No problem, my sons have a passion for football, it’s hard not to.”
