Claudio Marchisio is out of Italy’s Euro 2016 qualifier with Bulgaria with a potentially long-term injury.

The midfielder has been ruled out of the trip to Sofia, along with Alessandro Florenzi and Manuel Pasqual, but it is the Juventus man who is the cause of most concern.

Tuttosport reports that the 29-year-old was injured in training at Coverciano, with Azzurri doctors fearing that he could be facing a long spell on the sidelines.

RAI is reporting that Marchisio has suffered a cruciate ligament injury.

That would be a major blow for the Bianconeri, who will already be without Paul Pogba for next month’s Champions League Quarter Final with Monaco.

There has been no confirmation as yet as to the nature and the extent of the injury, and Juventus will be hoping that the blow is not as bad as reports are suggesting.
