Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has bitterly criticised the English media and promised “clearly one day I will return to Italy.”
The former Inter and Lazio Coach is having a tough time at the moment with headlines such as ‘Dead Manc walking', so vented his frustration with Italian news agency ANSA.
“The English newspapers will do anything to sell more copies, even resorting to fantasy and inventing stories,” said Mancio.

“The English newspapers will do anything to sell more copies, even resorting to fantasy and inventing stories,” said Mancio.
“Manchester City have been criticised for many reasons. I am Italian and this can open me up to controversy, but we are calm and relaxed. We haven't been working together long and if the season ended now, I'd be very happy. We are fighting for the Champions League and not only that.
“Clearly one day I will return home to Italy. It will certainly happen. But right now I have to work with City, a great club with extraordinary potential. Now is the time to do the ‘dirty work' of changing their mentality and constructing a great squad. It's a tiring process and I want to do it well.”
One of Mancio's big summer signings, Mario Balotelli, has barely featured after picking up an injury on his debut.
“He is doing better, but it's not easy to play in England. He's coming off an injury and therefore has to get back into shape. Mario has bonded with his teammates and has no problems. He really is a good lad.”
Balotelli also represents a new dawn for the Italy squad after their disappointing 2010 World Cup exit.
“These are just phases that football goes through. A team is strong for a few years and then there comes the generational shift. Let us not forget the Nazionale won the World Cup in 2006. When talking about youngsters, we must understand it takes time for them to grow.”
Mancini is keeping a close eye on Serie A and his former club, Lazio, who are top of the table.
“They are doing well and notching up results, but at the end of the day the Scudetto race will be above all between Inter and Milan.”
