Italy CT Roberto Mancini seems set to replace Manuel Locatelli and Andrea Belotti when the Azzurri make changes ahead of Northern Ireland on Monday.

La Gazzetta dello Sport waits for the press conference from Belfast tonight and reports Italy are set to make a several changes ahead of the crucial match in Group C.

Zlatan on the bench against Spain?

Italy play for the top spot in the group, as only goal difference separate Switzerland and Italy in the table ahead of the final game.

Mancini is desperate to pick up an automatic qualification for Qatar 2022 and avoid a scare after the 1-1 draw with the Swiss on Friday.

The report claims Juventus midfielder Locatalli and Torino captain Belotti seems set to start on the bench.

Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali could get the nod after his positive performance in the second half against Murat Yakin’s men at the Olimpico.

Jorginho and Nicolò Barella should be confirmed in the middle to complete the trident in the middle.

Domenico Berardi seems set to start in attack and should be joined by Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Chiesa. Mancini could also opt to give Gianluca Scamacca a chance in attack, meaning either Chiesa or Insigne will make way, according to the newspaper.

  1. I would drop Jorghinho no way us he in a positive mindfulness and have a more dynamic midfield Barella ,Lucatelli and Toballi
I would bring on Insigna for the second half if needed we haven’t the time now for him to try and score one of his top corner goals we need more than that tomorrow play Scamacca , Chiesa and Berardi we need strong players against NI
We need poachers to take their chances which we will have we need to try and win by 4 clear goals

  2. If he has to play, the. Tonali should play in front of the defense, in place of Jorginho. That’s his position, but then again, a good play must learn to perform anywhere.

He deserves this chance after a strong start to this season with Milan.

  3. I agree the Swiss beat Bulgaria 3-1 away so we need to set our sights on 4 clear goal win we need goalscorers

  4. Why would you want to drop Jorginho apart from penalty he had a good game & is vital to link passes in midfield important part of Mancini way of playing

  5. 4 clears goals away to n Ireland ? No way that happens these guys can’t even score 2 goals anymore . If they were playing at home maybe but I don’t see that happening . And Bulgaria will most likely get smashed by Swiss with our luck

  6. Sounds promising. But it’s not only the name but the form + fitness they’re in too. I would play Tonali with Barella + Locatelli + perhaps Pessina could be a strong option off the bench. All are dynamic, very mobile + have good physicality. But perhaps some of them are carrying knocks or not up to speed yet? And perhaps Jorginho is fired-up to make “amends” in a positive, rather than in a “too eager” way? Mancio + the staff will know. Whoever is upfront, Berardi, Chiesa, Insigne or Scammaca? There’s enough firepower there to create + score goals. On paper at least! This “sound’s” a bit redundant, but they need to start well + stay switched on at the back too.

  7. I think the focus should switch to Donnarumma here. He’s got to keep a clean sheet for us. He hasn’t done that lately! That goal by the Swiss was well within his reach. With +2 goals we already have, a scoreline of 1-0 or 2-0 may do it for us.
