Julian Weigl has been proposed to Milan by his agent Volker Struth ahead of a possible summer move.

The 26-year-old German midfielder is having a good season in Portugal with Benfica, shining as a defensive midfielder in a 4-4-2 system. He is incredibly keen for a move to Italy and his agent has met with various Italian sides in recent weeks.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Struth proposed Weigl to Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara in a meeting at some point over the last few days. The Rossoneri took note of the situation and highlighted their appreciation of the player, but a move looks unlikely.

The Rossoneri are looking for players with different characteristics such as Renato Sanches, who is their main target to replace Franck Kessie. Benfica’s €40m valuation is also considered too high by the Milanese club, who are looking to be smart with their investments, and so they will not look to sign him in the summer.

  1. He used to be among the most exciting young potentials. A typical deeplying playmaker, very good at holding up the ball, tackling, and distributing. But injuries ruined his development at Dortmund. Anyway, 40m seems too much for him at this stage.
