Luka Romero has been one of the surprises of the season for Lazio, leading Lionel Messi to advise Paris Saint-Germain to sign the teenager.

The 17-year-old Argentinian forward joined the Biancocelesti on a free transfer last summer from RCD Mallorca, with the Roman club only paying €200,000 as a training premium. He instantly impressed coach Maurizio Sarri at the pre-season training camp in Auronzo di Cadore and was promoted to the first team aged only 16.

Romero was given his first team debut in Lazio’s 6-1 win over Spezia back in August and he’s remained a member of the senior squad ever since, training with them day in and day out in Formello.

The Argentine teenager is known for his incredibly quick feet, his technical ability and his strong vision, making him an extremely exciting prospect for the Biancocelesti, who are looking to tie him down to a five-year deal once he turns 18 in November.

Romero was called up by Lionel Scaloni for the Argentina first team in the recent international break, where he trained alongside Messi, who was quickly impressed by the teenager. This is why he reportedly told PSG’s directors to sign the Lazio talent in the summer.
