Romelu Lukaku is desperate to return to Inter this summer but things are looking complicated as he prepares to restart talks with Chelsea.

The 29-year-old Belgian forward joined the Blues last year in a deal worth around €115m and things have not gone to plan in West London. Lukaku has struggled to translate his Serie A form to the Premier League and he’s only netted eight goals in 26 appearances, failing to live up to his price tag.

Corriere dello Sport details how Lukaku is ready to return to London this week in order to personally insist on a return to Inter. He’s expected to meet Chelsea’s executives in person to carry out these talks.

Things are a little complicated, however, with Tuttosport suggesting that the Blues want €23m for the loan deal, the amount he’ll impact the club’s budget. Inter are not keen to pay this fee and won’t pay above €10m. The Nerazzurri must finalise a deal by the end of the financial year on June 30 to be able to use the growth decree, meaning a 50% cut on the player’s gross salary.

No players will be included in the deal either, so if Chelsea want someone like Stefan de Vrij or Denzel Dumfries then they’ll need to start a separate set of negations.
