Lazio President Claudio Lotito has revealed that he would accept a Scudetto playoff against Juventus

Lazio and Juve are in a two-horse race at the top of Serie A, with only a point separating Lotito’s side in second and the Bianconeri.

The idea of a playoff to decide the Scudetto has been suggested if the remaining fixtures cannot be completed, and the patron is ready for such an outcome.

“We risk sending the system upside down if we don’t restart the season,” he told La Repubblica.

The idea of a playoff to decide the Scudetto has been suggested if the remaining fixtures cannot be completed, and the patron is ready for such an outcome.

“We risk sending the system upside down if we don’t restart the season,” he told La Repubblica.

“Some clubs are preparing a shared document to expose the actual risks they run.

“If we stop playing, I’ll be in the Champions League and save four months’ salary.

“It would be convenient for me not to play, but I’m thinking about the system. Others aren’t.

“Today I’m a point off Juventus, and only for Juventus-Inter that… oh well, you saw it.

“But in the first game against Juve I won 3-1 and again in the Supercoppa. And we still had to play the return game [in Serie A].

“For fairness, a team like Inter, who have eight points less than us, or Atalanta, who have 14 points less… you tell me if they should be involved.

“I’d accept [a Scudetto playoff], but I’ve never made an issue about it.”
