Serie A icon Jose Altafini has called Inter striker Lautaro Martinez an ‘excellent’ player but warned that he is ‘not a phenomenon’.
Barca have earmarked Martinez as Luis Suarez’s long-term successor to their No 9 shirt, but Altafini fears the Argentine is being hyped up too much.
“He’s a good player but not a phenomenon,” the former Milan, Napoli and Juventus striker told Mundo Deportivo.
“Only Ronaldinho, the Brazilian Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar can be considered phenomena.

The 81-year-old was then asked about whether the season should resume in light of the coronavirus outbreak.
“You can’t stop Serie A now. You have to restart, regardless of whether that’s in July, August or September.
“There are clubs that deserve to finish the season, even if many players won’t be in shape.”
