Adem Ljajic believes Roma “play the best football in Italy and are the best team” despite falling behind Juventus.

The Giallorossi lost the big showdown 3-2 in Turin on Sunday and are now three points adrift of the Serie A leaders.

“It’s best not to talk about what happened on Sunday. I’d do better to stay silent,” Ljajic told Roma Radio.

“Football would improve if we had video replay technology in games. We played well, went on to the field concentrated, scored two goals and conceded three that should’ve been disallowed. We could not have done more.

“We go forward, anything could happen and we’ll see where we are at the end. Roma are stronger this year, both in terms of new players and mentality.

“I believe we play the best football in Italy and are the best team. Now we have to win and give all we can give.”

Ljajic was on the bench and witnessed the extremely tense atmosphere in the stands, where Juventus fans insulted Roma players, spat on them and in one case tried to strike fitness coach Vito Scala.

“People in Italy are not yet accustomed to having the bench inside the stands. They need to have more respect for those of us sitting there. I responded in my own way, but we have to stay relaxed. I can only hope when Roma build our new stadium our fans don’t act like that.”

Serbian international Ljajic also confessed he tried to convince Aleksandar Kolarov to join Roma.

“I did try! I hope some of my Serbian teammates can come here. We are strong and have many great players. Kolarov is the best Serbian player around.

“Which of my teammates is the most vocal? De Rossi, certainly. He makes himself heard, asking the midfielders to track back and he really helps.”
