Follow all the updates live as Italy’s betting scandal continues to expand and evolve.

The first news came early on Tuesday morning as one of the alleged sources of Fabrizio Corona claimed he had made up information about Roma full-back Nicola Zalewski, who had been named as the fourth player involved in the betting scandal.

Zalewski had immediately denied his involvement in the case through his lawyers last week. They also announced they would sue Corona for defamation.

The gossip columnist and ex ‘King of paparazzi’ as he’s known in Italy, has promised he will reveal more names during a live program broadcasted by RAI tonight, Tuesday, October 17.

Meantime, Juventus midfielder Nicolò Fagioli, the first player involved in the case, is expected to get a seven-month ban, meaning the end of his season, while Sandro Tonali and Nicolò Zaniolo will be heard by the Turin and FIGC Prosecutors before the end of the week or from October 23.

Tonali’s agent has confirmed his client has sought help to treat his gambling addiction, while Zaniolo has claimed through his lawyers he’s never placed bets on football matches, so he’s confident he won’t be banned by the FIGC.
