Roma are sure of at least a Champions League preliminary round entry, but make the trip without injured Diego Perotti, William Vainqueur and Seydou Keita.

El Shaarawy is on loan from Milan with option to buy and faces his former club with Mohamed Salah and Miralem Pjanic in a more advanced role.

Even with Perotti out, Edin Dzeko still can’t get into the starting XI and that does not bode well for his future.

Cristian Brocchi makes some changes ahead of next Saturday’s Coppa Italia Final with Juventus, missing injured Ignazio Abate, Luca Antonelli, Jeremy Menez, Rodrigo Ely and M’Baye Niang.

Carlos Bacca partners Balotelli with Keisuke Honda and Andrea Bertolacci in support, as Giacomo Bonaventura is not 100 per cent fit.

It’s the first Serie A start for youth team midfielder Locatelli, while ex-Roma defender Alessio Romagnoli is moved to left-back.

It’ll be the last game for Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati, who is hanging up his gloves.

Roma have not beaten Milan, home or away, since a 2-0 result at the Olimpico in April 2014, managing two draws and a 2-1 defeat here.

The Giallorossi’s last victory away was 1-0 in December 2010, managing just two points from the next four trips.
