Alessio Romagnoli is given his senior Italy debut from the start against Diego Costa’s Spain in a crucial World Cup qualifier.

These sides meet again three months after Italy’s 2-0 victory in the Euro 2016 Round of 16.

Giorgio Chiellini was on target that day, but is now suspended, so Milan defender Romagnoli fills in with his first senior Azzurri appearance.

The rest of the Juve back line is in place and was set to reunite with former Bianconeri hitman Alvaro Morata, who is no stranger to scoring at the Juventus Stadium and found the net seven times in his last nine Spain caps.

However, Coach Julen Lopetegui has opted to start Diego Costa in attack with Vitolo and Andres Iniesta.

The plan seems to be to press Italy high up the pitch, allowing Iniesta and David Silva to drift wide.

Before kick-off, Daniele De Rossi will receive an award from UEFA to mark his Century of Italy caps, as this will be his 108th senior appearance for the Azzurri.

The Roma man takes the midfield playmaker role, while Alessandro Florenzi and Mattia De Sciglio push down the wings.

Riccardo Montolivo gets the nod ahead of Milan teammate Giacomo Bonaventura in the middle.

Graziano Pellè, who scored against Spain in Euro 2016, leads the attack with Eder.

Both won their opening World Cup qualifiers, as Giampiero Ventura’s men won 3-1 in Israel and La Roja crushed Liechtenstein 8-0.

In total these sides have met 44 times with 15 Italy victories, 17 draws and 12 Spanish wins.

The Euro 2016 success was the Azzurri’s first since the 1994 World Cup, having managed just three draws after 90 minutes (losing on penalties in Euro 2008 and the 2013 Confederations Cup) and a 4-0 defeat in the Euro 2012 Final.

Spain haven’t won on Italian soil since a 2-1 result in 1971.

The Nazionale is unbeaten in Turin for 61 years, while it’ll be the third international match at the Juventus Stadium after a 2-1 win over the Czech Republic in 2013 and 1-1 friendly draw with England.
