Lazio, however, insisted they had no desire to sell and promised the player himself a new deal should he remain loyal.

According to Il Messagero, Candreva will meet with President Claudio Lotito concerning a new improved contract.

The 27-year-old should see his wages rise from €1.2m a season to €2m until June 2019. There will also be a number of performance related bonuses.

The paper is also suggesting that Candreva could be offered the Biancocelesti captaincy as part of the discussions.

Candreva has played for a host of clubs in his career to date, including Juventus and Parma.
