In the coming weeks, Lazio will be required to make a decision over the future of on-loan full-back Luca Pellegrini, whose temporary stay at the Stadio Olimpico is set to expire at the end of the 2022-23 season.

The former Roma academy graduate teamed up with Maurizio Sarri in January 2023, cutting short his loan deal in Germany with Eintracht Frankfurt to join the Biancocelesti in favour of regular playing time.

However, the minutes Pellegrini has been given on the pitch since his arrival has been far from consistent.

In fact, the 24-year-old has registered less than 90 minutes, spread across four separate appearances in all competitions.

Lazio were keen to take Pellegrini on loan in January and have the right to purchase him from Juventus for €15 million at the end of the season, but confidence in that deal has decreased since his arrival at the start of the calendar year.

In the coming weeks, Lazio sporting director Igli Tare and President Claudio Lotitio will have to make a decision over whether to pay the price to keep Pellegrini permanently, or to let him return to Juventus after what has so far been an underwhelming loan spell.
