Philipp Lahm remarked at how Roma showed a more defensive edge to their game against Bayern Munich last night.

The Giallorossi were hit with a 7-1 defeat by the Bavarians two weeks ago in Rome, but last night were more solid in going down 2-0 to the side who have now advanced from Group E.

It was a turnaround in attitude that was noticed post-match by the Germans’ captain.

“Roma learned from the reverse fixture that you have to play defensively against us,” Lahm told UEFA’s official website.

“They did that and at times played with six at the back, so it was not easy to create chances.

“That made getting the opening goal all the more important – it set us up to push on in the second half.

“We have won the group now, so we can focus all our energies on the Bundesliga.”
