Milan’s Franck Kessie says he needs to ‘do even better’ next season in order to help his side reach the Champions League.

The Ivorian midfielder has made 53 appearances in a productive first year at the San Siro, scoring five goals and contributing six assists.

Despite a promising start to life with the Rossoneri, the 21-year-old is targeting further improvement next term.

“I have settled very well. We have had some problems but we need to achieve our target of getting into the Europa League,” Kessie, who joined Milan from Atalanta last summer, told the Rossoneri’s Matchday Program.

“Next year, I need to do even better in order to get into the Champions League.

“I am always ready and available for the Coach. That’s the reason I have played so many matches.”

Kessie added that he has a good relationship with Coach Rino Gattuso and also thanked former boss Vincenzo Montella for giving him opportunities earlier in the season.

“I have a good relationship with the boss. He wants to give confidence to the players, he has won everything.

“I need to say thanks to Gattuso and to Montella, they have always played me.”
