The rapport between Rick Karsdorp and Roma has reached rock bottom, as after Jose Mourinho’s criticism, the full-back has refused to attend training.

The situation deteriorated beyond repair after a 1-1 Serie A draw with Sassuolo, when Mourinho went to the media and claimed the team had been “betrayed by the unprofessional attitude” of one player.

He didn’t name him initially, but it was assumed to be Karsdorp, later confirmed when he was dropped from the squad for the final game of 2022.

Karsdorp was expected to resume training today, with a decision still to be made about whether he would travel with the Roma team to Japan for a winter training camp.

It seems as if he has already made the decision for them, because Sky Sport Italia report that Karsdorp has not turned up when expected.

He had already left the city ahead of the final game of 2022 and flew back to the Netherlands with his family.

Mourinho had also stated in those post-match comments that he’d invited the guilty party to “find himself another club” in January.

Juventus have already been linked for a potential stay in Serie A, but Bundesliga and Eredivisie sides are also alternatives.
