The Old Lady are long time admirers of the Italy international and have been tracking him since his Milan days.

Although the Serie A champions may not be able to offer €40m to buy the player permanently, they could try to sign Locatelli with a ‘creative’ formula that would allow them to sign the 22-year-old with a swap deal or on loan with option to buy.

The Bianconeri swapped Miralem Pjanic with Barcelona's Arthur last summer and signed both Weston McKennie and Alvaro Morata on loan with an option to make their move permanent at the end of the season. The same could happen with Locatelli in summer 2021.
