Atalanta striker Sam Lammers believes La Dea ‘didn’t play as we know’ against Liverpool and reveals two of his teammates have been crucial for him to settle in Bergamo.

“Atalanta are helping me to learn Italian,” the Dutch striker told Tuttosport.

“Sometimes I have lessons three times a week, for me it will be very important to learn Italian, both for football and everyday life.”

La Dea had already had two Dutch midfielders in their team before Lammer's arrival last summer: Marten de Roon and Hans Hateboer.

“They’ve been very important for me,” the 23-year-old said.

“I am not only talking about the work here in Zingonia. De Roon, for example, has helped me to look for a house to move in and put me in contact with some people he knew to help me off the pitch.”

The former PSV striker has already scored two goals.

“I am happy, these are the first goals with this shirt. It’s always nice to score, even if you don’t play the entire game. I hope I can soon become a starter but there are very good players here at Atalanta. I wanto to do my best and be ready to start or come in as a sub.”

Atalanta face Spezia on Saturday but have two other crucial Champions League games against Liverpool and Ajax coming up.

“Against Liverpool [in Bergamo] we didn’t play as we know,” the striker said.

“It will be a different game in England and we’ll play to earn points. It’s going to be a great match for our qualification.

“It is realistic to think the Ajax game will be very important as they are direct opponents. But all the games are crucial, we've had a good start and we are in race to qualify [for the last 16 stage].”
